Architectural Conservation and Tourism

This module intends to introduce us the current issues of conservation in Malaysia and beyond and to instil awareness on the values and importance of architectural conservation. It also identifies the inter-dependence between architecture and tourism and showcases how tourism is sometimes vital for the preservation of historic architecture and places as well as the innovative re-use of buildings. The module also highlights the balance that is necessary to achieve a long-term sustainable environment for memorable architecture to survive and flourish in the era of mass tourism.

assignment 1

For project 1, we are required to do a case study for a historical building individually on the aspect of focusing more on how the architecture itself attract tourist. Then, a topic essay is needed to have further discussions on tourism and conservation.
