Measure Drawing
This module introduces the method of documenting historic structures through preparation of measured drawings, written and photographic documentation to preserve an accurate record of historic properties to the prescribed standards.
Project 1
Individually, have to execute appropriate techniques in measuring own dwelling space with an area of approximately 1500 square feet. For those who live in an apartment, it can be the entire apartment. After measuring, a set of drawings comprising floor plans, internal room elevations, one section and a detailed drawing of ornaments using Revit
Have to be produced along with the measuring sketches.
Project 2 & 3
Project 2 - heritage architecture, literature review
In a group of 9, we had chosen the Spatial Layout of the Traditional Chinese Temple as our topic. With that, we are required to conduct a literature review, focusing on the architectural responses to the historical, social and cultural contexts. The literature review findings are presented orally and in the form of a research poster, which will be further discussed more intensively and in detail in Project 3.
Project 3 - heritage architecture monograph
Continuation of Project 2, we are required to produce a monograph with a defined framework and methodology, focusing on the selected theme. A more in-depth and breadth of the studied topic should be further discussed in the monograph along with appropriate case studies. The monograph should reflect our understanding of historical origin and development and architectural responses to the studied building typology's historical, social and cultural contexts.
