1:1 TECTONICS: DESIGN PRINCIPLES, ANTHROPOMETRY AND ERGONOMICS EXPLORATION
Project 2 takes students to a journey of understanding structure, anthropometry and ergonomics. The main intention of the project is to let us understand the minimum measurement for a person to carry out the banal activities.
1:1 bamboo tectonic structure that suits the chosen panel activities are required to produce and then explain our structure using orthographic drawings and 10 tattoo stamps that shows out the abstract point of view of our tectonic structure.
Research topics
Before we start to design, we are required to do some research about the different type of bamboo and the construction method. The banal activity chosen by us is leaning so we started to study the comfortable position of leaning and the construction method that we can use without bolts and nuts because our main concern is environmentally friendly. We have done a sheet to compile all our research.
The making process
After brainstorming ideas and getting approval from our tutors, we started to order our bamboo after confirming all the measurement. Then, the first step of making the tectonic is to arrange the bamboo according to size and colours then, we start to smooth it using sandpaper. Then slowly the day pass, we start off with the supporting structure- ring and tripod then slowly connect the other part.

reflective and thought
This project is giving us one great opportunity for us to experience building the structure on site, enduring hot sun and work till day night. This makes me understand better on the scale and measurement better and also makes me understand the importance of engineering because they are the one who helps us fulfil our architect's vision. The most grateful about this project is that we were given the most influential opportunity to exhibit our bamboo structure in KLAF. We never imagine that our structure was being present to the public together with our CASE STUDIES!
